The Home Depot

The Home Depot was founded in Atlanta in 1979 and the city remains our hometown today. With 60 stores and almost 20,000 associates who live and work in Metro Atlanta, we care deeply about the success of the city and its residents. Through strategic grant making and volunteer activities, we work daily to make a positive impact.

Over the last seven years, The Home Depot Foundation has donated more than $39.5 Million to 1,250 nonprofit organizations in Atlanta. We also host the Building Community Network, an event series that was developed to reach out to our nonprofit neighbors and friends working to strengthen Atlanta.

How We Help

Team Depot

In addition to financial contributions, our associates are very involved in volunteering through our Team Depot volunteer program. Activities include basic repairs and/or maintenance on facilities, sorting food donations, gardening and landscaping, running campaign drives, etc.

We also have more than 45 of our executives serving on more than 65 boards of community organizations, including the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Metro Atlanta YMCA, Atlanta Children's Shelter, Boys & Girls Clubs, Atlanta Botanical Garden and the High Museum of Art.

Veterans Initiatives

Through charitable contributions and Team Depot volunteer opportunities, Atlanta is no exception to our mission, ensuring that every veteran has a safe place to call home. We work with area nonprofit organizations in key areas such as veteran housing, appreciation, and health and therapy to name a few.

2014 Atlanta Grants

In 2014, The Home Depot Foundation is investing grant dollars in Atlanta to support veterans and their families as well as to continue longstanding partnerships with key local nonprofits.
